What’s new on Coursera for Business – March 2020

By Kyle Clark, Senior Skills Transformation Consultant

As our Chief Enterprise Officer Leah Belsky wrote to many of our customers last week, the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) has profoundly affected our work – and our lives. At Coursera, we’re grateful for the opportunity we have to continue to serve businesses, universities, and governments during this time.

This month’s list is split into two categories: 1) new COVID-19-related content,  and 2) general new content. I would also recommend a recent blog by my colleague, Alison, on resources to support your learners during the pandemic.

Wherever you are and however COVID-19 has impacted your life, we hope that our courses and projects can be of help to you.

March 2020’s COVID-19-related content:

  • Fighting COVID-19 with Epidemiology: A Johns Hopkins Teach-Out, Johns Hopkins University – This free Teach-Out is for anyone who has been curious about how we identify and measure outbreaks like the COVID-19 epidemic and wants to understand the epidemiology of these infections.
  • Mind Control: Managing Your Mental Health During COVID-19, University of Toronto – Never in the history of humanity have so many people been feeling intense anxiety related to COVID-19 and the world it will leave in its wake.  The intent of this course is to give you a deeper understanding of the anxiety reaction as it relates to various aspects of our current life, ranging from our consumption of news to the way we talk to our children about this.
  • COVID-19: What You Need to Know (CME Eligible), Osmosis – COVID-19 is a global pandemic that has already resulted in hundreds of thousands of infections and thousands of deaths, with many more anticipated. This course is a go-to resource that will be regularly updated with all of the current information put forth by the CDC, WHO, and other leading agencies and covers the basics, personal protective equipment, diagnostics, and other material. As a healthcare professional, you can earn CME credit and help to #RaiseTheLine by becoming prepared to treat COVID-19.

March 2020’s general content:

  • AWS Fundamentals Specialization, Amazon Web Services – This specialization gives current or aspiring IT professionals an overview of the features, benefits, and capabilities of Amazon Web Services (AWS). As you proceed through these four interconnected courses, you will gain a more vivid understanding of core AWS services, key AWS security concepts, strategies for migrating from on-premises to AWS, and basics of building serverless applications with AWS. Additionally, you will have opportunities to practice what you have learned by completing labs and exercises developed by AWS technical instructors.
  • Implementing RPA with Cognitive Automation and Analytics Specialization, Automation Anywhere – The explosive growth of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in the past few years has created a tremendous demand to learn and become skilled in this exciting technology. This four course Specialization is designed to introduce RPA, provide a foundation of the RPA lifecycle–from design to bot deployment–and implement RPA with cognitive automation and analytics.
  • Automating Real-World Tasks with Python, Google – This is the final course in the Google IT Automation with Python specialization. You’ll tackle real-world scenarios in Qwiklabs that will challenge you to use multiple skills at once. First, we’ll take a closer look at how to use external Python modules to extend your code’s capabilities, and spend some time learning how to use documentation to learn a new module. Next, we’ll show you how to communicate with the world outside of your code! At the end of this course, you’ll be able to take a description of a problem and use your skills to create a solution — just like you would on the job.
  • Engineering Practices for Building Quality Software, University of Minnesota – In this course, you will learn about engineering practices and processes that agile and traditional teams use to make sure the team is prepared for change. In addition, you will also learn about practices, techniques and processes that can help your team build high quality software. You will also learn how to calculate a variety of quantitative metrics related to software quality.
  • Global Health Innovations Specialization, Imperial College London – This specialisation reflects on global health challenges and the role of innovative solutions in addressing them. It is intended for public health professionals, budding entrepreneurs and innovators, as well as those interested in understanding the role innovation plays in the health industry.
