Helping Companies Respond to Employee Well-Being and Digital Readiness during COVID-19

By Leah Belsky, Chief Enterprise Officer, Coursera

The spread of COVID-19 has profoundly affected the way companies operate. In a matter of days, organizations around the world transitioned millions of employees to remote working to keep their communities safe. How businesses respond during this crisis will have a lasting impact on employee engagement, productivity, and retention.

Over the last couple of months, we have seen many of our enterprise customers lean on learning to build organizational resilience. Learning leaders across companies are on the frontlines providing employees with the support they need in adapting to a new normal.

To help with their efforts, we are launching the Coursera Employee Resilience Initiative to give our enterprise customers and all their employees free access to a curated set of 30+ courses. Our goal is to help employees successfully transition to remote working, increase digital readiness, and improve mental wellbeing during a particularly stressful time.

The catalog includes some of our highest demand courses during this crisis, such as The Science of Well-Being from Yale University, Foundations of Everyday Leadership from the University of Illinois, Fighting COVID-19 with Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University, and Communications Strategies for the Virtual Age from the University of Toronto. Once opted-into the initiative, employees will have unlimited access to the courses until July 31, 2020. Any learner who enrolls by then will have until September 30, 2020, to complete their courses.

It’s been humbling to see leading businesses around the world implement this initiative, with an opportunity to collectively support up to 26 million of their employees worldwide.

According to Peter Sheppard, Global Head of Learning Ecosystem, at Ericsson, “Since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, we wanted to provide our employees with the best resources to support their mental health and wellbeing, as well as supporting them in their transition to remote working. We are thankful for this initiative by Coursera which has enabled us to make this support easier for everyone across the organisation.”

Learning is a powerful tool for engaging employees and we’re honored to partner with companies in their efforts to use learning as a catalyst for hope and adaptability.
