My experience with edX has been life-changing. Fifteen years after my last degree, I was feeling outdated because, for more than a decade, I have been embedded in the same professional and academic environment, listening to the same things from different people. I needed to do something about that and started looking for education programs that could deliver top-notch content without forcing me to leave my current job position to study. EdX provides me access to self-paced courses conducted by recognized specialists in my field, helps me update continuously and is already part of my weekly routine. It is a gateway to get in touch with distinct trends, providing expertise and new instruments to my professional toolbox.
In my particular case, in the educational leadership field, there are rare opportunities to engage in a global cohort with people sharing multiple standpoints and new contents. The edX MicroMasters® program in Leading Education Innovation and Improvement, designed by the School of Education of the University of Michigan, made me reason above my national level environment, opening up new literature suggestions, workable management strategies, and deep reflections about leaders’ roles and responsibilities. After this, I decided to pursue a masters degree in an international institution.
The edX MicroMasters program was the first step in this new journey that is enhancing my professional skills and also opening up new roads that for me had been thus far inaccessible. In short, the program made me confident to face more robust challenges and motivated me to take a slight break on my professional routine, go back to the University and come back even more prepared.
